After Paul gives instructions to the Colossian church about having a Christ-like disposition towards one another, he directs his attention to household codes. How should the way Christians treat one another generally play out specifically between husbands and wives, parents and children, as well as masters and servants? God has a will for social order, and he expects it to begin in the households that make up his church.
