The Humility of the King

Apr 10, 2020    Pastor Nate Wright

Though it grieves us that we aren't able to physically gather as the body of Christ, we are thankful that this technology is available so that we can still minister to you during this time of separation.
Below are some sermon notes to help you follow along:
The Humility of the King
MARK 15
- Silent before Pilate: A humble King.
- Substituted for Barabbas: A sacrificial King.
- Abused by the soldiers: A suffering King.
- Mocked by the onlookers: A patient King.
- Dies on the Cross: The promised King.
- Buried in Josephs Tomb: The eternal King.
BIG IDEA: This King humbly died in the place of his sinful people.
- At the heart of Good Friday is Penal Substitutionary Atonement
Isaiah 53:6 - "the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Isaiah 53:12 - "yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors."
Romans 3:25 – “23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.”
2nd Corinthians 5:21 - "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
Galatians 3:13 - "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us -- for it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree."
Good Friday Reminds Christians that salvation is by works… but not ours.
