Saved From Spiritual Death

2016-06-19 by Sandor Kotzeff

“While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.”

Matthew 9:18

The pinnacle of Jesus power is displayed in his power over death. The Hebrew and Greek languages used a variety of different words to describe different kinds of death, but early Christians always defined death as a separation. Physical death being the separation of our worldly bodies from our souls (Eccl 12:7,) and spiritual death being a total separation between Man and God (Isa 59:1-2.)
The death of our physical bodies is inevitable. We are made of flesh that originated from the dust of the ground and it’s decay is a natural property of the world we live in. However, The spiritual death that human beings are at risk of experiencing is completely preventable! Our faith in Jesus is like an anchor that keeps our souls firmly tethered to God’s grace. When our physical body is destroyed, and our soul released from the vessel it currently resides in, the black abyss that exists between unbelieving souls and their creator will be left unknown to us. Because God, in his amazing love has sent a savior, of whom we need only put our trust in to be saved from the horrors of spiritual death.

"Father, I trust in you. I trust in your promises and I trust in your Son who is my savior. Thank you for your love and thank you for your mercy. For turning a blind eye to my sins and making me clean through the atoning sacrifice of your Son Jesus at Calvary. I do not fear my physical death because I have faith in your word, and I know that you will save me from spiritual death and welcome me into your embrace when my time on Earth is done. For Jesus sake, Amen."
