Bethlehem Walk

2016

Crossroads Alliance Church prepares for Bethlehem Walk 2016

The Story Never Gets Old . . .

Yes – the story never gets old . . . and it never changes – however, the way it is presented has been refreshed and rejuvenated this year!

After a one year hiatus, Crossroads Alliance Church, together with members of several local churches, is once again preparing for Bethlehem Walk. In its 20th year, the event attracts 3,000 to 4,000 people annually, and features 300 cast members, in full costume, together with an array of live animals along the road to Bethlehem.

In groups of 15 to 20, led by a lantern-carrying guide, each “family” steps back in time into a land of wonder and enchantment. The path, lit by hundreds of candles, twists and turns around the two acres of wooded property. Along the route, travelers stop to interact with shepherds, the wise men, are harassed by Roman soldiers and stop to warm themselves at a Jewish family’s fire. A very realistic market, filled with all manner of live animals and edible delicacies, almost convinces guests that they are actually in Israel!

A prophet, the star, a heart-warming manger scene, and the evening is almost complete. Ending with a hot drink and cookies inside the church, all agree that it has truly been a miraculous journey!

You too can take this journey back in time:

Dates: Nov. 19, 25, 26
Times: Tours depart every few minutes from 6 pm to 9 pm each
evening
Place: Crossroads Alliance Church, Hwy 19 between Ingersoll and
Thamesford

Inside Out Kids

Inside Out Kids is the name of our Children’s Ministry at Crossroads. We call it that because it’s a profound truth that is easy to explain to young ones: We have Jesus on the INSIDE and we show him on the OUTSIDE. This directs how we interact with children at our church, teaching them what it means to be “in Christ” at a young age while encouraging them to put it into practice in how they live daily.

We take the proverb seriously that says, Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6), as a result we do all that we can to assist you in your God-given mandate.

Come and check us out on Sunday morning if you’d like to find out more!

Family Night

We believe the family is VERY important, and it’s something God invented… there is a lot of confusion about gender roles, parental preferences, how to discipline etc. in the world, as Christians it’s our responsibility to THINK DIFFERENTLY – God made the family, he gets to define it and there is a lot of instruction throughout scripture about what families should look like: Deutoronomy 6:7 speaks of the responsibility of teaching the laws and ways of God to your children, it says, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

One of the ways Crossroads wants to support parents in these efforts is by providing a place where, instead of splitting up families and sending them to age segregated ministries, we keep the family together and minister to you all at once, messy as it may be!

Every Sunday night at 6:00pm we invite families to come to the church where we pop some popcorn and go through the bible in a fun, interactive way!

CORE Youth Ministry

At Crossroads we look for ways to interact with our young people that doesn’t just entertain them (though we happen to think of ourselves as entertaining) but to use the word of God to train them up in righteousness. We believe that at the difficult and confusing time of adolescence, more than fun and cheap entertainment, young people need to be rooted in the word.

Nursery

The nursery ministry at Crossroads is committed to creating a safe, loving and fun environment for children to be ministered to. We do this to ensure that parents have the opportunity to participate in regular church life on Sunday mornings without concern for the care of their young ones as well as to ensure that children in our care are given an age appropriate foundation for what we hope will be a long life committed to Jesus Christ.

Our workers are screened and trained appropriately to provide excellent care to your little ones so you can be assured they are being well taken care of.

Small Groups

At Crossroads we believe that Christianity is a group activity. There’s no such thing as an individual Christian. God has given us one another to challenge, teach, encourage, pray for and love each other.

For that reason we really encourage individuals and couples to plug in to a small group. We have a variety of groups, studying a variety of topics on different nights of the week and in different neighbourhoods. Visiting us on Sunday mornings is AWESOME, but to really get the most out of your church experience we would love for you to join a small group.

This is where theology collides with everyday life.

Precept Upon Precept

At Crossroads we are committed to knowing God through his word. As a result, in conjunction with our small groups, we always hold precept bible studies through the week where we do an inductive bible study in a particular book of the Bible.

These groups use the inductive bible study method developed at Precept Ministries International where the goal is to study God’s word in a group setting, allowing scripture to interpret scripture so that we can understanding all that we can from God’s word.
